Good Afternoon! It’s October, which is one of my favorite months, it’s the beginning of Autumn, the weather is getting cooler, and the holidays are just around the corner. It’s a new month, which means I need to recap my previous month’s goals. Only there is a slight problem, I didn’t tell you what my September goals were! So, this post contains my goals and the recap of those goals. I promise I’ll get better at posting my monthly goals.
My September Goals
✔ Go to Barre twice a week
I honestly thought this was going to be hard to accomplish. It was probably one of my easiest goals to complete. I decided to go to Barre at 5:30 am Mondays and Wednesdays, which is crazy but it’s been working out perfectly. Since it’s in the beginning of my day, I don’t really have an excuse not to go. I’ve started to wake up at 4:30 am even on mornings I do not need to go to class! I’ve loved going to Barre twice a week, this is going to sound crazy, but I’ve decided to try and go three times a week starting this month!
✔ Lose 2 – 4 pounds
I didn’t weigh myself at the end of August, but I did weigh myself this month. I’ve lost 3 pounds! Which is a great scale victory, but it’s not the most important thing to me anymore. If I change my eating habits and work out more the number on the scale will drop naturally. Doing this lifestyle change has shown me that eating healthy, working out more and just taking time for myself is super important. I’ve felt better mentally than I have in a very long time. That is worth way more to me than the number on a scale.
✖ Try new fitness class
I’m sad I didn’t accomplish this goal, but with trying to get my Barre routine down, hosting a baby shower, working on craft projects and other life events, I couldn’t find a class that fit into my schedule. Hopefully, I can find time this month, I love Barre but I need to find other things I enjoy as well.
✔ Save $300
I saved $400 this month, which is crazy. I accomplished this by sticking to my budget. Saving is really becoming a habit. After my Japan trip I’ll continue to save and maybe I’ll be able to afford some new things.
✔ Go to Beach
I didn’t go to the beach and relax, but I still made it to the beach. I ended up walking about a mile on the beach. It honestly felt like 5 miles, walking on the beach is so hard. It was a great workout, but I felt extremely out of shape. Even though I was suffering, I finished my workout and felt great afterward.
✖ Go to gym once a week
Just like last month, I didn’t make it to the gym at all. I’m not sure why it’s so hard for me to go. Maybe I should try and go on those weekdays I wake up wide awake at 4:30 am. I’ll try and squeeze it in somehow. I’m not going to beat myself up about not completing this goal because I’ve been going to Barre twice a week and walking on the weekends.
✔ Explore Fort Pickens
The famous Fort Pickens has located about 30mins to an hour away from my home. My boyfriend and I decided to explore it! I hadn’t been in such a long time, but it was so much fun. Walking around the Fort got us outside and off our butts. I got to enjoy history while being outside. It was a win-win.
✔ Eat 4 fast food meals during the month
Again, this goal was easy for me to accomplish, I didn’t really crave fast food. I cooked most, if not all my food for this past month. It’s becoming a habit of mine to not go too fast food places for food.
✔ Try a new recipe
This was fun. My boyfriend and I are trying to cut costs while still having a date night on the weekends! We decided to try a new recipe for our date night activates, and this month we tried Shrimp Scampi Potstickers. The recipe called for Goyza wrappers, which we could not find ANYWHERE, so we had to use wonton wrappers. They didn’t turn out exactly right, they turned out more like ravioli than pot stickers. It was still delicious and we might actually use this recipe to make ravioli and serve it with alfredo sauce.
✔ Finish a Book
I finally finished The Last Train from Hiroshima: The Survivors Look Back, I’ve been working on it for a couple of months now, I decided to sit down and finish it. I’m so glad I did, it’s an amazing book and I highly recommend it to anyone.
Just like August, I finished 8 out of 10 goals. That’s another B for me, I’m proud of myself. Hopefully next month I can finish all my goals! If I ever finish all my goals in a month, I plan to buy myself a gift. The first thing I’m going to buy is some new workout clothes. October is a new month and I’ll have new goals up soon I promise! If you like my monthly goal series you should subscribe to my blog! I’m going to try very hard to keep new content coming out every Tuesday and Thursday. Sometimes I’ll post things on Saturdays too!
Now a question for you all. Have any of you started keeping monthly goals? If so what are they?
