August Goals Recap

I know, it’s the end of September and I’m doing a recap of my August goals! I have September goals that I set into place, I just haven’t written about them on here. I will also be posting about my September goals and if I hit them in another post. This post is purely focused on my August goals.

My August Goals

✔ Go to a new fitness class

I completed this and found out that I really like Barre. I’ve been going twice a week for about 2 months now! It’s been great and I’m glad I went out of my comfort zone and tried a new class.

✖ Go to the gym twice a week

I did not complete this goal, but I did exercise twice a week by going to my Barre class. I never made it to the gym, I don’t feel bad about it because I have been exercising.

✔ Try a new outdoor activity

The outdoor activity I decided to try was hiking/walking a nature path. I choose to walk on the nature path that is located on my old university campus. It was a muggy day because it had rained the night before, but I really wanted to go out there. It was an adventure for sure, the nature trail is swampy and filled with creepy crawlies. I loved it, and I got to spend time with my dad. I dragged him along and we had fun.

✔ Only eat four fast food meals for the whole month

This was surprisingly easy. About a week after I stopped eating fast food on a regular basis, I stopped craving it so I could resist temptation. I ate a lot more home cooked food or I went to an actual sit-down restaurant where I ordered healthier food.

? Lose three pounds

This is a question mark because I’m not entirely sure if I lost any weight or not. I’ve been staying off the scale and just doing what feels good to my body. I feel lighter, my clothes are fitting better, and I just feel better.

✔ Save $200

With my Japan trip coming up I really need to save up money. I’ve been putting money aside every month since I bought the plane tickets. I’m hoping that this will become a habit even after I come back from Japan.

✔ Take a day to enjoy myself

To me, this meant doing nothing for a whole day. I set aside a Sunday where I did nothing but play video games and relax. It was one of the most enjoyable Sundays that I’ve had in while. I’m so glad I took the time to just relax.

✔ Go to a park

By going to the park, I was able to enjoy nature and get off my butt. I stayed at the park for about an hour, just walking around and enjoying the day. Completing this goal made me realize that I need to get outside more and just enjoy nature.

✔ Sleep in

I’m the type of person who is always on the go, I don’t let myself enjoy sleeping in usually. Even on the weekends, when I wake up at 6 am I usually stay up and do housework or run errands. Sleeping in feeling great, I still woke up at 6 am but instead of getting up right away, I rolled over and went back to sleep. Enjoying this little thing really made my day feel more relaxed. I’m going to try to take care of myself more and sleeping in at least one day during the weekend is a great way to start. Sleep is important, and I love being in my dream world.

✔ Read 1 Book

With this goal, I outdid myself. I read about 4 books during the month of August. I decided to finally read the Sookie Stackhouse books, there are still more for me to read, but I can’t stop reading them once I start. It’s been a long time since I’ve found a series that I’ve enjoyed this much. I’ve heard the ending isn’t that great so I might not ever finish the series, but I’m enjoying the books so far.

I finished 8 out of the 10 goals I had set for myself. If I was grading myself that would be a B! August was a great month, and I believe setting these goals for myself contributed to that. I went out of my way to do things that I normally wouldn’t because I thought I was too busy to do these things. Setting these goals helped me experience new things, go outside more, and just take time for myself. I’m going to continue to set goals for myself every month and see if I can stick to them or complete them. I encourage you to set goals for yourself too, maybe it’ll help you realize that you have a little more time in the day than you think.

Thank you so much for reading! I hope you have a great day!
