Weight Loss Journey Check In – 1

Hey, everyone! It’s been about a month since I last wrote about my weight loss journey and I am proud to say, I’ve lost another 3 pounds and with that, my total weight loss is 6 pounds! Hooray! 6 pounds in two and half months isn’t too bad, that is about a pound a week. Which is great progress, and I’ll keep losing. These first 6 pounds have been hard, I’ve had to re-think about the way I treat food. Food for me is a comfort, I turn to it when I’m sad, angry, happy, etc. It’s always been a comfort to me, but now I know my eating habits were not healthy and I needed to change that. Food is fuel for my body, and it can be a comfort for me, just not all the time.

I haven’t gone to the gym as much as I would like, I probably would have lost more weight by now if I had gone, but I can’t beat myself up about that. I can make changes now, worrying about the past won’t help me. My original plan was to go to the gym 3 times a week and stay there for about an hour. It wasn’t too bad of a plan, but I need to get into the habit of even going to to the gym. I can be a bit of a perfectionist, and sometimes I feel like well if I haven’t gone to the gym at all this week I might as well not go. This is a horrible mindset to be in, even if I make it to the gym once a week, at least I made it more than the past week. I need to get into the mindset that everything I do won’t be perfect, and that is okay. No one is perfect so I shouldn’t put that much pressure on myself to be.

My plan for the rest of this month and half of next is to try to go to the gym 2 times a week and stay there for one hour. Hopefully, this will relieve the pressure I was putting on myself to go 3 times a week. I’m also hoping this will make going to a gym a habit and adding an extra day won’t be so hard!

I have been looking around at different fitness classes, I want to add something to my routine that I love then it won’t feel like a workout, I’ll just be having fun. I want to try cross-fit, everyone who does it seems to love it and it seems like it would be fun to challenge myself. I’ve also been looking at getting back into yoga and maybe find a Zumba class. I want to make this fun, but I live in a small town and there aren’t many options for different fitness classes. Hopefully, I’ll find something that I love to do and it will just become a habit to go.
Well, that’s my check in for the month! I hope to bring good news about my progress next month and hopefully, I’ll be hitting the gym more!
